About Sakoshi Bay
Sakoshi is a port town facing Sakoshi Bay in the eastern part of Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture .
The old townscape with its traditional buildings has been selected as one of the top 100 cityscapes in Japan .
It is known for its beautiful views of Sakae Bay, which encompasses the sacred island of Hatano Kawakatsu, Ikishima (a national natural monument , a special protected area of the Seto Inland Sea National Park , and one of Hyogo's 100 best forests ).
Sakae Bay, located in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, is an area of sea facing the Seto Inland Sea, bordering Misaki to the west and Kamasaki to the east .
Sakakoshi Bay, where the tides are relatively gentle, provides an ideal environment for phytoplankton to proliferate, and this phytoplankton serves as food for oysters.
In addition, the main stream of the Chikusa River , a second-class water system known for its clear waters and selected as one of Japan's 100 famous waters, flows on the west side of the mountains, and the mineral-rich water flow and topography produce the quality of Sakae Oysters.
The nutrient-rich Sakae Bay is also famous as a farming area for Sakae oysters produced in Banshu Ako.
